Breast lift surgery, also known as mastopexy, provides a solution to breast sagging that occurs as a result of aging, pregnancy, or body weight fluctuations. A breast lift surgery can elevate the breasts for a more youthful appearance.
Pregnancy, weight changes and natural aging can all contribute to undesirable breast sagging. With a breast lift, Dr. Bajaj raises the position of the breasts to create a firmer and more youthful-looking appearance, without altering overall cup size.
Benefits of Breast Lift Surgery
- Lift the breasts for more youthful appearance
- Firm and reshape the breasts
- Reduce the size of an enlarged areola
- Improve overall body proportion
You will have a personal consultation with Dr. Bajaj to determine if breast lift surgery will achieve the results you desire. Since breast lift surgery does not change the size of your breasts, you may want to consider multiple procedures, such as a breast lift in conjunction with a breast augmentation, to achieve desired appearance results. It all depends on your unique situation.
A breast lift surgery is performed under general or local anesthesia combined with intravenous sedation. Incisions are made around the areola (extending above it and creating a new position for the nipple), along the breast crease, and in a vertical line connecting the two incisions. Excess skin is removed from the bottom of the breast and the nipple and areola are moved to a higher location on the breast.
During a consultation Dr. Bajaj can help you determine if a breast lift will meet your cosmetic goals.
The nipple and areola remained attached to the underlying breast tissue, reducing the risk of sensation loss. For some patients, other incision patterns may be appropriate. Dr. Bajaj will help you determine which technique is best for you based on your degree of breast sagging.
Before & After Photos
Breast lift surgery recovery time varies, but you’ll probably need to take it easy for a week or two. Expect some soreness and swelling for a few weeks. Generally, patients can return to work and perform normal activities within two weeks.
Dr. Bajaj will give you specific instructions on how to care for your breasts following surgery to reduce the risk of infection. You will have a follow-up appointment within a couple of weeks to make sure everything is healing properly.
As with all surgical procedures, there are risks associated with breast lift surgery. Potential adverse events include discomfort, infection, changes in sensitivity and asymmetry. During your consultation, Dr. Bajaj will review these risks with you, explaining any steps you can take to minimize them.
