You will have a personal consultation with Dr. Bajaj to determine whether liposuction surgery will achieve the results that you desire. There are many different areas where liposuction can be performed, so you and Dr. Bajaj will have to decide which treatment is best for you.
Liposuction is often performed on the thighs, hips, back, arms, love handles, chest or abdomen.
Is the gold standard technique in liposuction. It involves the use of saline and epinephrine wetting solution that is injected into the targeted area before fat is removed by suction. The wetting solution is used to constrict blood vessels, which helps to minimize blood loss during the procedure. Anesthetic lidocaine is also contained in the tumescent solution, which helps to control pain.
On the day of surgery, Dr. Bajaj will give you the appropriate anesthesia and/or intravenous sedation to keep you comfortable through liposuction. Small incisions will be made, and Dr. Bajaj will administer the solution into the fatty deposits under the skin and use a tube-like instrument known as a cannula to remove the targeted fat.
After liposuction, Dr. Bajaj will give you an elastic garment to wear for several days or weeks— depending on what’s necessary to achieve optimal results. You’ll also be given aftercare instructions for a smooth recovery. It’s important to follow these instructions and attend any follow-up appointments that are scheduled at our Oklahoma City plastic surgery office.
Dr. Bajaj will prescribe appropriate medications to keep you comfortable after your procedure, as you’ll experience some discomfort, swelling and bruising.
