Why I Got the Femtouch Laser….

This statement can be taken two ways – as a personal testimonial as to why I had the laser treatment and as a business testimonial about why I chose to purchase the laser for my practice. The answer to the question actually applies to both aspects.

First, what is the FemTouch? FemTouch is a non-surgical treatment for vaginal health that applies the innovative powers of CO2 fractional lasers. Fractional CO2 laser treatments have successfully been in use in the cosmetic world as the gold standard for a wide range of skin treatments.

With FemTouch, these healing and remodeling powers of the fractional CO2 laser are employed to improve vaginal health – treating issues such as vaginal dryness, frequent urinary tract infections, and stress urinary incontinence. FemTouch works by promoting the stimulation of new vaginal tissue growth, by triggering collagen production. As women, most of us talk about breasts and tummies freely but don’t really discuss vaginal issues. I wanted to try the FemTouch personally because I was tired of having to control the urge to pee every time I ran, coughed, or sneezed. Also, there are other age-related concerns of vaginal dryness (something we rarely discuss).

A consultation for the FemTouch involves a quick vaginal exam. And you should be up-to-date on your gynecological exams and have had a normal pap smear. We usually recommend a series of 3-4 treatments spaced a month apart, and one touch-up treatment every year after that. From my perspective, the treatment didn’t hurt and had minimal discomfort.

A couple of other things to keep in mind – you can’t be on your period during the treatment, and you will have to avoid sex for 3-5 days after the treatment. Otherwise, you should be able to resume all normal activities!
