Procedures
| Breast Reconstruction |
We perform several different procedures for breast reconstruction, including free tissue transfer and implant-based procedures. If you've undergone a mastectomy or lumpectomy to eliminate breast cancer, Dr. Bajaj can guide you through the process of reconstructive surgery. Breast reconstruction can be performed immediately after mastecomy, or it can be delayed and performed later. |
| DIEP flap breast reconstruction |
DIEP flap breast reconstruction replaces the tissue removed during mastectomy with soft, living tissue by taking skin and fat from the abdomen. An incision is made along the bikini line, much like that used for a tummy tuck. The necessary skin, soft tissue, and feeding blood vessels are removed; the blood vessels are then matched to supplying vessels at the mastectomy site and reattached under a microscope. |
| TRAM Flap Breast Reconstruction |
TRAM flap reconstruction is one of the many options available to women who need to rebuild and reshape their breasts after having breast cancer removal surgery, or mastectomy. The procedure gets its name from the transverse rectus abdominus myocutaneous muscle that is used, along with surrounding tissue, to perform breast reconstruction. |
| Skin Cancer | Skin cancers such as basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma are often removed with a simple excision and direct closure technique. If necessary the growth is removed and then examined under a microscope. A variety of techniques can be performed to remove skin cancer with minimal aesthetic change. Dr. Bajaj can recommend and perform the best technique, depending on the type of skin cancer, its stage of growth, and its location on your body. |
| Hand Surgery | In hand surgery, Dr. Bajaj can help restore the function and appearance of your hands when they are negatively affected by disease, injury, or birth defects. Major advances have been made treating patients with hand injuries, degenerative disorders, and birth defects of the hand. Plastic surgeons undergo intensive training in hand surgery, and they treat patients with a wide range of hand problems. |
| Scar Revision | Scar revision is a procedure offered by Dr. Bajaj that can treat scars that were caused by previous injury, surgery, or burns. If you are bothered by a prominent scar, this procedure may benefit you. Through a variety of different techniques, the operation can make a scar less noticeable. |
